Here are some pictures from Fiesch, a really cool place to fly in the Swiss alps. When you get up, you get to check out some really cool glaciers and fly XC in very easy conditions. It was scratchy to get up when we were there, but we managed on some days.
The "pilots" hotel in town. Pretty cheap, but run-down enough that
only pilot would stay there. 1 block from the tram station. Note
the tram wires going up the mountain in the background. Launch is to
the right of the tram station that looks like it is on top of the mountain (but
is in reality only half-way up.
The Euro tour 98 cast - Lothar, Scott, Jan, and Urs
The setup area for gliders. Note the tramlines comming up the
hill. It is about a 5 minute walk from the station to the launch.
The bags launch on the other side of the tramway.
Jan launches. The valley in front of him is the main XC route. The
LZ is so close down below you can't see it.
Urs takes of and shows us how it is done. He consistanly worked
us in his bag the whole trip.
Scott launchs his Euro-syling ram-air,
For a picture, even Lothar will smile.
Another view of the setup.
Kicking back in the LZ. Should I walk across the street
to the shop, or walk a couple of blocks to the tram and
fly again No, I'll just have a safty meeting and walk to the bar.
